Mine is the making of, and fitting of drawers.
I love to work with drawer components…be it a straight-forward in/out slide; to a difficult curved drawer front, pivot corner, 180 out. I like drawers.
What do you do that you like to do?

My favorite woodworking moment is about as basic as it gets…. Hand planing.

It hits so many senses. Something about that wispy sound getting played over and over, really strikes a rudimentary note with me, makes me feel grounded. The smell of of the wood as the fibers are cut builds on the experience. Getting that feel as you work the angles to find that silky smooth cutting action, awaiting those gossamer shavings to find there way briefly to your hand before making the descent to the floor. Some mornings I will sneak out to the shop crack the doors and let the light spill in and just plane, just makes me feel like everything in the world is in order.

Nice…real nice. I agree. Hand planing with a silent room, with a scary/sharp plane, is nothing more than bliss…immaculate.

My most favourite moment and I suppose, even a skill, is when another soul realizes they are lucky to know me and I them, and we are forever thankful for our small contribution towards an infinite journey in “getting it right”

The moment I look at them and remember the debate, the unnecessary explosion’s of anger and frustration, where trust is tested, and when the dust has settled and the fruits of hard work pay off, the moment they smile and are happy once again

Suddenly all the faith and hope we have in ourselves, is worth it : ))

I love the moment when the project is complete and sanded to its final grit and the first coat of finish is layed on and the grain of the wood comes out.

Favourite moment, just before you put the tools back in the van. You’ve just finished an installation and get the chance to look over another piece you worked hard on for however many weeks. Skills? I like fitting drawers too, or making doors.

For me it’s setting up a tool with jigs, stopblocks, etc and having the cut come out perfect!

Wow, some of you are so “poetic” it makes me wonder if i got on the wrong forum. lol.

let me give it a try…... My favorite skill/moment is when I rip a board and it comes out straight and doesn’t kick back and slam me in the head!
