I will be using a 7/16 in. mandrel for turning some spindles and was wondering what chuck would best be used for holding that mandrel ? Oh, I might add that I don’t want to break the bank with this purchase. lol

Need to look at: collet chucks, with right size collet. A 1/2” drill chuck might be cheapest, or 4-jaw scroll chuck with proper jaws most expensive.

I have and like the Penn State collet chuck.

You’d likely be able to hold that mandrel in the 5/8” collet.

Yes, if have a set of small dovetail or pin jaws for your G3 chuck. Not sure which jaw set would work better for your application so you decide. JMHO, would buy the pin jaw set, have a set of spigot jaws for my Oneway and love them.
