Boy o’ boy… we’re in trouble here in Atlanta. It’s very hard to find a station here that has any gas and when you do people line up around the block to get it and the tanks run dry quickly.

Not sure what’s causing the shortage, newsman says the trucks are running steadily and filling up the tanks – but it’s sure not there when I am. Rumors say production is low but that contradicts some news reports. Some of the employers in the area are letting people stay home or telecommute because we literally don’t have enough gas to get to work. Guys driving the tanker trucks have the Pied Piper effect, folks will follow them around (aka stalk them) to see what station they are going to.

I haven’t seen or heard of this on the national news so is this just an Atlanta thing? Anyone else having trouble filling up?

Sounds to me that people are panicking like they did here in Nashville. Most of them here were topping off their tanks and not driving until they needed gas. We seem to be over that stage now. Most of the stations I pass on the way to work had gas this morning. One lady at church Sunday said she saw someone filling up 12 gas cans on Saturday. If everyone would just get gas when they needed it all would be okay.

I just left work and I checked 7 stations on my way home – none of them had any gas at all. :-(

Every station has gas in Delaware and the section of Maryland where I drive.

I’m guessing that we get out gasoline for somewhere in the east coast. Where you are probably getting your gas fron the Texas area.

I’m guessing that everyone is driving around with a full tank. When they are down a 1/4 tank they want to fill up again.

I went through that in the 80’s I think.

Tim I was in Atlanta today at the airport and saw what you’re talking about with the gas. I looked tonight on http://www.wsbtv.com and they’ve got an article on it.
I don’t know about here in the mountains yet. I had a full tank and haven’t been into town in over a week but I did hear there are some waiting in lines.

Nothing going on here… gas lines are normal, and everyone has it.

Tomk, $3.35 a gallon. I’m coming over there to get some of that cheap fuel. We pay $1.50AUS litre + (about $6US a gallon).

No shortages in New Zealand either at 1.95NZD/litre – that’s about $5.10US/gallon but I get paid in NZD so it’s still $7.40/gallon for me. in any case, I apparently get about 175mpg since I mainly ride a bicycle ( see bicycle mpg ) but there was a peanut butter shortage here until just a while ago. Following food trucks proved difficult and fruitless.

I finally found gas last night, waited in line with 50 other cars but got a full tank. Regular unleaded was at $4.19/gallon and Premium at $4.49/gallon. A couple more stations had gas this morning – and more lines!

The news said that the EPA issued a waiver where we can use gas that isn’t low sulfur, at least until the flow gets better.

Here in Charlotte, NC we have NO GAS! At the few gas stations with fuel, the lines are unbelievably long. I drove across town earlier this evening with a 2 gallon gas can just to fill up my wife’s car enough so she could get home… unbelievably ridiculous!

I would love to be able to ride my bike to work, Chico. Used to do so when I lived in Austin and miss those days.
