Hi, I am a new member of your terrific site. I spent all day Sunday reading the tool mini reviews and thoroughly enjoyed the real world style.I am a hobby woodworker and former Painter/ Decorator.
I was watching Norm and decided to bite the bullet and gear up like Norm as I thought I would really enjoy the feel of good tools and a nice new workshop. In the summer of 2004 I tried to get a Delta Unisaw ala Norm but over in Ireland they are a special order £2500($4000) Ouch! I decided as I would go to a woodworking show in Birminghan UK to see the tools up close. I saw the Felder combo ,was offered a good deal and put my money down.
I went home and organised a new shed wired up for my machine .I got it for Christmas 2004 and in Feb bought the Landis Worbench book and the beech for my bench.
In May 2005 I fell off a ladder, now I have limited mobility and need crutches to walk more than a few yards.
I still love woodworking and I am lucky I got this combo machine as the sliding table makes things much easier.
I spent over a year in bed and another in a wheelchair so I haven’t produced much but I made my workbench a few tables and a pair of speakers I’ll put the speakers in the project page.A friend came by to hear them and bought them from me.
I put the cash into a new project. I am working on a new pair of speakers now but I am very slow and have think every move out first as I cant carry much weight and can only stand for an hour .
I love wood and mostly work with ash as it is so affordable and I love the grain. As a painter I am always trying for the perfect finish.
So thats me in a nutshell.

Welcome to LumberJocks! I must warn you, this place is addictive- but in a good way!

Sounds like you have had a run of bad luck but I can see it hasn’t gotten you down- That’s the Lumberjock Spirit.

Looking forward to more of your posts.

A great big deep south welcome. We all have challenges when we do our WWing, some more than others. You seem to have a very good attitude toward your WWing after your accident.
In the last 7 years I have had 4 of 7 disc in my neck removed and those levels fused, so I have limited movement also. I still do all the stuff I used to just a little different. I have a different look on things now.

Just remember to be as safe as you can around all machinery!

Welcome to LJs. Wow and I thought tools were expensive here; mind you having good quality tools makes the hobby a lot more enjoyable (and I bet safer as well). Welcome aboard and I am looking forward also to pictures of your shop and projects.
