Topic tags/keywords: cutting boards dye coloring food safe question Has anyone out there had any experience with using wood dyes and cutting boards? A member of my extended family has requsted a board to match their kitchen and I will need to dye the surface. The board will be used, so the dye must be considered food safe. Any help would be great! |

I have never tried it but perhaps food coloring or Easter egg dye would work. You could mix the colors until you had the right shade. No matter what dye you use I’m sure that it will fade over time with washing and stains from whatever you cut on it. -- Roger1 |

Don’t use food coloring where it will leach into food. Many people are very sensitive to them. |

Try Jello or Kool Aid for dyes. http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4DMUS_enUS288US289&q=jello+wood+dye -- Only the Shadow knows.................... |
