I live not more than a couple minutes from a lumber yard in my town that I’ve never set foot in. Yesterday I decided to go have a look around.
As luck would have it, most of the stuff on the shelves has been packed away while they update some fixtures. They are open in this process, but it rather a mess.
I talked to one of the guys there about maybe catering to wood turners a little bit with some tools and blanks. I’m sure the eastern Kansas City lathers could use a good outlet.
Anyway in the course of our conversation, he told me he had something I might be interested in and took me out to the lumber yard in back. He led me to a single black walnut board. 4/4 about 26” wide, and from what I could tell from the rather inconvenient place they stowed it, about 4-6 foot long with absolutely straight grain and it’s perfectly flat.
I think he’s had it for a long time and now see’s his chance to get rid of it so he is likely to shoot me a good BF price. Either way that baby is mine even if he charges the 7.99 going rate BF.
