Topic tags/keywords: layout calculator

So I am just starting to figure out how to do hand cut dovetails. I have a leigh jig and have never used it. I picked it up for peanuts, which is the only reason I have it, and if I ever have to do a ton of drawers it will be handy. For doing small boxes and a few drawers I want to learn how to do them by hand. I have been diving into hand tools more for my project, its more relaxing to me and I feel it makes me a better woodworker by doing things by hand. So I started researching hand cut dovetails online and I stumbled on to a website that has a handy little tool. Here is a link.
Its a calculator for laying out dovetails and then allows you to print it out and apply it to the boards you want to cut. I dont have a marking guage yet so I am hopeful this will help me learn the process. The site is pretty useful for many types of layout, form gazebos to stairs. Thought I would share this with everyone as it could be a very helpful site, here the link to the wood layout homepage where you can acess all the other calculators. I am not affiliated in any way with this website I just thoguht it was a usefull website, and its free!!

Heres a link to the main calculator page

Some of the calculators are hidden so its worth a little exploring.

If you want send me your e mail and I will send you a pdf on laying out dovetails with a two point compass. The web calculator is nice but would take too much time and spend to many resources on something that can be done very quickly with a pencil and a compass.
