...when you get excited that your son got more Thomas & Friends train track so you can see if he got any quarter sawn pieces.

I hope I’m not the only one that does this!

Heh, I was at the local Do-It center (they have since been renamed to something else) getting my clean hot-burning propane tanks refilled, and noticed that they had some 1/4” thick maple. There was a whole bunch of really nice curly stuff there. I bought over $30 US worth, at what is about 1/4th the price at Rockler. I’m refilling two more propane tanks tomorrow and will check their supply again.

Note that I have at this time absolutely no use for that wood. However, I plan on making some projects in the future, and am collecting the wood in advance. I do also buy wood when I see a nicely figured piece, when I’m looking for construction stuff, just because it is (and I am) there. I have a few cubic feet of nicely figured wood that I plan to use at some point, some 1/8th”, some 1/4”, some 1/2”. I recently made a coin holder for my eldest son, who is in the US Air Force, out of QSWO, 1/2” thick. I gave it to him before I thought to take pictures.

I think I’m a wood-beauty-aholic.
