I can’t tell from the pictures but it is an older one.

I’m guessing someone has posted this before: http://home.comcast.net/~rexmill/planes101/typing/typing.htm

Looks like it rusted pretty badly and they tried to clean it up.

Looks like a type 10 or 11….now that is a nice plane!

I was looking at a No.5 very similar in appearance to the one you have shown here. The difference was, mine did not have a corrugated bottom. It did not have any rust on the cap the rest was surface rust. It was $35.00 as well, I did pass on it. Can anyone tell me what type the non corrugated bottom would be?

5 or 5C. Type is the same regardless of C designation. I’d suggest $35 is a decent price for a great user, and that’s what the plane above appears to be. But how much is shipping? That could be the deal breaker…

Without seeing the sole and what the frog looks like, I’d pass at $35. I don’t think its a Type 11 because I don’t see any patent dates, but that’s not really an issue. For a decent #5, I never pay more than $20 and that would have to be a REALLY nice one. That’s because, at least around here, 5’s are really common.

Agree with Mike—definitely a type 10 or 11 and I think 11 based on the next to last photo. Either way it looks like it could be a good user. $35+shipping is on the high end of what I would consider fair, but is still a decent price, especially if it really is an 11.

I’d say a type 11, but with the pitting that shows, and not seeing the sole, I’d say $35 is to much.
