I’ve read lots of suggestion from LJ’s to pick up an older Delta or Rockwell band saw if possible. Over here on the wet coast they’re not too available, sometimes but not often. The question is. Are there still parts available? What’s the HP rating on most of these units? Is it strong enough for simple re sawing? I re saw 4/4 X4” maple on the table saw and it’s a pain in the butt. Any info would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

I like Grizzly 14” bandsaws, and they have gotten some very good reviews. Point is, they are a lot cheaper than Deltas, which are still being sold. But I realize import duties or taxes could really hurt you. Maybe not so badly on used, though?

Don’t know what prices are like in Surrey/Vancouver, but I found these three used saws on Craigslist in about 2 minutes.

Dallas I just saw that General this evening. I’m not too sure about the Canwood, or the Trojan. As the other part of my question was, is 3/4 hp got enough grunt? Maybe I’m being to picky, but I only want to do this once. RWS. The Griz is my first choice if I’m going new. Take their price, add 20%(8% Washington tax, 12% our tax and it’s still cheaper than just about anything new here, General, Delta, Rikon. Except Craftex

You won’t pay WA sales tax if you get it delivered. You will have to pay the delivery fee, though.
