I am designing a bookcase and want to incorporate built up moldings for the base and top. I am toying with building 2 hardwood web frames for the top w 3/4” stock. The top most webframe would be 1 inch larger than the frame below it. Now I can route profiles on the 2 edge surfaces to give this piece a crown molding look w/o doing any mitering. Looking for suggestion on which profiles (router bits) to use. Not trying for any particular furniture period rather just give this piece a substantial look. The room where it will be installed has 5 inch cove crown moldings on ceiling. Then I would reverse this process for the base
