I was looking through my Woodcraft catalog and saw a add for SawStop, if you buy a cabinet saw you get a choice of mobile base or over arm dust collection system. Back in December I called Sawstop and asked if any promotions are coming up and I was told they had no idea, fine so I bought my saw. I love the saw had a problem with motor ( it was bad and they sent me out a new one!). I did get them to throw in the dust blade guard only because a week went by and the forgot to send the motor out. So I call SawStop yesterday and asked if I could get the promotion and they told me sorry. That doesn’t seem right to me at all! I spent $2800.00 on their product and that’s alot of money for me. What do all of you think I’am right or I’am making a big deal out of nothing. Thanks

Sorry but the promotion is going on now and it wasn’t going on when you made your purchase. If they go back and grandfather your purchase do they then have to go back and grandfather everyone who has ever bought a SS? There is a reason why companies have a start and finish date on most promotions and this is one of those reasons.

I almost got a retroactive bonus after buying my SawStop… another saw. Two weeks after mine was delivered I got a call from the shipper telling me the truck was on its way with my saw. I came clean and told them there was a mistake. Did wonder if they’d have caught the mistake if I’d have taken delivery though.

Big deal out of nothing.

I like it when companies deliver exactly what they promise.

I have to agree with others here – big deal out of nothing.

In their defense, whoever you talked to may not have had any idea that a promotion was upcoming, or even if they did, they might not be at liberty to have disclosed any information. In the current issue of Woodworker’s Journal, there’s an ad that says if you buy the saw between March 1st and April 30th, you get one of the freebies, however if you go to the promo website, it looks like they’re actually taking receipts as far back as Feb 19th. It’s not much but they do seem to be giving a 10 day grace period.

SawStop did the same thing last year … that’s when I bought mine and got the mobile base free.

Deals like this are catch as catch can, and are usually timed to offset slow sales periods or when new products are about to be introduced.

Those kind of things just happen with lots of purchases .

how long do you have to return the saw for a refund? If you are still iin that window, you could return it and re-buy it.

thanks for all of your replies, I’m not really disappointed that I didn’t a rebate, but I could of used the mobile base. I really like my saw and glad I have it. I’ll save and get the mobile base in the future, thinking about it. It’s like buying a new car and then the next month there’s a $5000.00 rebate. Oh, I don’t think I could stomach that! Good Day everyone.
