I found a woman selling a crosscut saw on Craigslist for $30
I pretty much bought without looking. After a bit of inspection I noticed Disston
And sons embossed on one of the handles. I was absolutely esthetic. I pulled to handles off and
Cleaned up the blade. Only thing… I didn’t see a Disston etching or stamp. Actually I didn’t see any
markings at all.
I suspect the handles were taken from a Disston saw blade and put on a nonDisston blade. Is his possible?
One handle rivet is in place but it barely seated. The other has been replaced with a regular screw
I guess my question is ; is it possible that Disston put out a saw blade with no markings? I looked around
And it seems the the etchings were an important point of pride with Disston.
The only identifier is the embossed H Disston and sons pat may 7 71.
I’m not complaining. The blade seems to be in damn good shape with all the teeth present and looking unused with slight surface rust I think it will make a great user once I figure out how to use it
