Topic tags/keywords: sea chest

My son is retiring from the Navy soon. Being retired Air Force I am not that familiar with the sea chest tradition. I have, of course looked at the ones posted here and other places on the web. I am sure there are many Navy folks out there that can give me ideas for the perfect chest. One big question is the size. He is a Gunners Mate if that helps with ideas. I plan to use mainly walnut with cherry accents. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

This may not be what you are looking for, but I remembered that I had a picture of a captains writing box which is pretty neat. Maybe it could be modified to serve as a storage chest.

Thanks Wayne for the link. I like the chest. I am gonna use a smaller version to hold his 1911 inside the bigger chest. I think I have enough brass for it. Great idea, thanks again

If you have not looked yet go to goatlocker.org (not my site but a fellow chiefs) They have a retirement section with some links to Navy guys who make shadow boxes. I bet you could get some good ideas there.
