Reminds me of a Gilliom bandsaw (18”) I built 25 or 30 years ago. The main problem was getting sufficient rigidity in the column. I had to reenforce it substantially. Even then, it couldn’t stand a lot of blade tension. Gilliom made this and other power tool kits—cabinet type TS, drum sander, jointer—don’t remember what all. That is interesting, but there’s no way they should get anything close to $500 for it, I think. I’ve seen large old manufactured saws go for much less. Amateur pricing strikes again. |
