I was curious if anyone knows of some veneer mills that would be willing to work with a direct consumer (actually for business use but not in quantities to qualify as wholesale, I think). My local lumber yard can special order some walnut burl but it’s $$$ and it’s a crapshoot of what it looks like. I have been using one particular online retailer but the options they got from their mill supplier aren’t quite what I’m looking for (too light).

I’m hoping to get in contact with a mill who can provide me with photos of their walnut burl (and possibly other expensive species) prior to purchasing, even if I still make the purchase through one of their distributors. The walnut burl veneer is particularly expensive so I can’t exactly just hope I get something that will work.

For example, does anyone have an idea who Woodcraft sources their paper backed veneer (2’x8’ and 4’x8’ sheets) from? On the website it says it ships directly from the mill (as they often do in my experience).

Any help would be mucho apreciado.
