Got a call from my doctors office this morning. I am on the surgery schedule to have a couple large stones removed from my salivary gland, actually to remove the gland.

So she calls and the first thing she says is “I have some bad news for you”.

I’m not the type to worry about things, so I didn’t freak out. It turned out that my surgery which was scheduled for next Tuesday is postponed until the doctor can schedule with another surgeon. They want two there because of some facial nerves that are close by.

But really, is that anyway to open a conversation with a patient on the phone, who just woke up?

In their guilt, the pain meds are flowing freely, which means no powertool projects for a while.

I am working on a couple of clocks which are not coming along as well as I had hoped.
My hatred for plywood has grown immensely meanwhile.
You’ll understand when you see the clock.

Anyway, that’s my life at the moment. Enjoy your clarity of thought.

”But really, is that anyway to open a conversation with a patient on the phone, who just woke up?”

Well, she coulda said “Are you sitting down?”

We’ll drop a prayer or two your way for peace and healing

Reminds me of the guy who went back to the doctor for his test results, and the doctor says “I have good news and bad news.”

The guy says “Give me the bad news first, Doc.”

The doctor says “Okay… you’ve only got six months to live.”

Devastated, the man slowly regains his composure and finally manages to as what the good news is. The doctor says, “You know my nurse Janie? The one with the blonde hair and huge breasts?

The man says, “Yeah…. what about her?

The doctor replies, “I’m sleeping with her!”

Russell, I’m praying for you. I hope you’ll keep us updated.

And I don’t believe that’s any way for a doctor to start out a conversation like that.

It reminds me of a joke (if you’re in the mood for a joke). The doctor told him “I’ve got good news and I’ve got bad news. The good news is you only have 6 months to live.” The patient responded, “Well, what’s the bad news, then?” The doctor said, “I should have told you 5 months ago!”

That is definitely a poor choice of words from a dr’s office. Hang in there at least it is not cancer, chronic or some other dread disease. Good luck, keep the air full of saw dust!

My thoughts are with you Russ. Not only does being out of commission stink, but if you’re the A-type personality I suspect you are ;) , the loss of control is equally frustrating.

Hang in there,
Sandra
