I was just wondering if anyone knew of a source for smaller quantities of reclaimed/recycled/salvage lumber? I’m having a hard time finding anyone, the problem is I need a good variety of hardwood species and only need about 20 bf, in 30-40” long boards 1/2-1” thick and random widths. Kind of looking for a scrap pack hind of thing, 50-70 pounds of the boards shipped UPS. I’ve been hitting the google hard, emailing alot of companies but they are all pretty unwilling to send out such small quantites in the variety of species, so if anyone know of any and could pass them along that would be great! Thanks very much for your help. Caldwell

You can try Minnesota Barnwood

I buy barnwood from them, they may have what your looking for, normally they have a large inventory. Very nice people, and are willing to ship smaller amounts. I usually buy 20 to 80 bd/ft and have it shipped.

Good luck on your hunt!

Here’s an LJ who is a master at locating, preparing and artistically and wisely using reclaimed hardwood:

Shoot him a PM and I suspect you’ll get some good info.

Check with your local demolition contractors.

This is the time of year I start driving by the local lawn and garden tractor retailers. Now is when they start getting their inventory in from China, Korea, wherever. They’re usually more than happy to have someone haul off the shipping frames. I’ll be damned if I know what species half the wood is but there is definitely a variety and some nice, salvageable pieces in the lengths you’re looking for.
