Hi ,I am Bill from New Mexico . I had all my wood working tools in storage and lost them when I could no longer pay the rent . Every thing was sold at auction. At 63 I am no longer in the mood to be acquiring things . Some months ago I wanted to purchase a sewing horse for my leather working and found nothing of any use on line . What I did was take the best of all I saw and compiled it and made my own design and took it to a local shop and payed to have it constructed . The elderly man who made it developed serious health issues after it was done so my project was Howard’s last big project sadly. Pete the man who owns the shop is being forced to partially close his shop and show room due the economy and rising costs . Getting any small projects from him in the future is unlikely . I have a million ideas that require some wood working so I am looking to be the conductor and have some one else make my ideas . I made some full scale plans and drawings for the horse and have them on a PDF file so they can be sent on line . There is a site called leatherworkers.net with 6,000 members that has lots of people looking for this type of tool . Of course shipping will be a issue so my whole point here is : Any body interested in this project ? The plans are done so that any part of this Stitching horse can be produced as singles IE seats ,legs etc so as long as the wood remains the same the parts can be ordered as money allows . Meaning this can be done as a kit letting the customer assemble it . This is the type of thing for a one man shop with low operating costs and some time . I have a need for other fixtures and jigs with a leather focus . Anybody interested ? not looking to make money here my goal is to get a second horse made from wood a step up from my first one and help a few folks . If you make money from this I ask you make a donation to my favourite charity : www.smiletrain.com I am brand new here and this is my first post so forgive me if I have crossed any lines with my post . Bill

Hi, Bill and welcome to LJs. I am outside ABQ. If you are nearby, PM me so we can discuss. I am not interested in any major projects, but might be willing/able to help you on a limited basis.

Hi Art, Thanks for the interest in my project. What I am hoping to do is have the pieces for this horse cut and made ready except for final sand and finish . Holes drilled and made ready for assembly . I learned a few things from my first one and now I would like to have a second one with a bit fancier wood than my first with a few changes . It needs to be made from a repeatable easy to get wood and cost effective. For me this is not about money and selling these sewing horses ,there is a market for them to be sure if a man felt like making them . A well made one will bring 500.00 at a big leather show that is for furniture quality pieces. I am very new here and dont know how to send you pictures There are some on photo bucket but I dont know how to get them over here . I have pdf plans for this horse to send on line and full sized one to one plans on graph paper that can be mailed . In my humble opinion its a tool that will last a life time and the only questions are : Can I afford it all at once now ,and How long will it take to recover the investment . Once I figure the picture thing and you see what I am doing it will get clear very fast . My email is bluesman1951@hotmail.com should you wish to do that then pics are easy from there . Bill

I sent you a PM. You should see an envelop in the upper right corner of the site next to the brown box that says “My Lumberjocks”.

This is intriguing. I’ve been shopping for a horse for a few months and don’t care for what’s offered. Definitely interested in seeing what you guys are discussing.
