After reading about Harborfreight Gems on this site, I decided to make a couple of purchases. First, I bought the Drill master Pocket Hole jig. I’ve always wanted one but the Kreg jig was more money than I wanted to pay. I had to order it off of the HF website and it took about 10 days to arrive but I’m impressed with how it looks. I haven’t used it yet but plan to in the near future and I will buy the Kreg screws as I’ve read on here that the HF screws are junk.

I’ve also wanted a rolling tool chest for my shop. I read on here that the U.S. General Pro models at HF were very good and the price was way below what you would pay anywhere else. I got a flyer in the mail and they had the 26” 16 drawer unit on sale. Regularly $399 On Sale for $299 with coupon. Their website currently has it on sale for $359 but $329 with coupon. I’m not sure why the difference, but I got mine for $299 at the store in Erie, PA. I am VERY impressed with the tool chest. The drawers open and close easily and they have ball bearing glides. The unit rolls nicely across my shop floor. I agree with everyone else here, that HF has some junk but they also have some Gems and these two items are Gems! I never could understand why people would pay thousands more for a Snap On or Mac tool chest but maybe it’s the abuse they take over the years in a professional setting or another valid reason, but for my shop, I’m sure this will last me many years! One kind of funny thing though. When I went to the check-out to buy it, the cashier said that it was a fork lift item and they only had one fork lift operator and he was on his dinner break. He said to come back in 40 minutes. So my wife and I shopped in a few other stores in the plaza for those 40 minutes and then went back to the HF store. The cashier said, “I made a mistake, the tool chest was not a fork lift item and he then sent a young guy to go get one from the back room. The cashier said he was sorry and handed me a business card. On the back he had hand written “20% off your next purchase ”. I thanked him and we left the store. My wife said to me after we left, “You mean we waited 40 minutes to buy this cabinet and you got a 20% off coupon for your troubles and we already have a 20% off coupon and a 25% off super coupon from the flyer?” I said “Yes” and then she said “So in reality, you got nothing for having to wait” I replied with “no, the hand written coupon doesn’t exclude items in the store like the other coupons do. It’s 20% of my entire purchase on anything in the store” My wife said “They should have taken another 20% off the cabinet for having to wait” I said “But honey, now I can buy a whole bunch of other HF Gems!” She gave me a look like, I’d spent enough money so I took her to dinner and had a great steak before heading back home. She felt better after that. LOL
