So I was cruising Craigslist the their day and lo and behold a powermatic 54HH pops up on my search. Now I wasn’t in the market for a new jointer, I have a old G1182 that’s in a little need of some tlc, blades need sharpening tighten belt. I read through the listing and its a two year old powermatic for $750, I get. Ahold of the guy and its still available and now it’s in my garage. It is in pristine condition, the guy only did one project with it and all he did was edge joint, no face jointing. I figure that’s a pretty good find, least for my neck of the woods. Whenever I find someone selling good condition tools for more than half of the original price there usually gone. Sure enough I was the first caller within the hour he posted and now that thing is mine. I milled and 8ft board of aromatic cedar when I got home, then some curly maple through. I even went against the grain on the maple and had no tear out. I love this thing. I’ll do a review after I get some miles on it. I have about 150 bdft of curly and regular maple that needs dimensioning for my workbench and two table tops, figure that will be a good time to really test it out.

My old jointer served me well over two years but time for him to move to a new home (if your in the DC NOVA area and want a cheap jointer let me know)

And my new toy…..I mean tool. I’ve been down to the shop twice just to look at it.

No I left my mask at home for this one, kinda felt like I should have worn it though.

That is a sweet jointer, you will love the spiral cutter head. You do suck, I had to pay full price for mine.
