The other day I started a thread that became all about how to dry a wet blank for a bowl. Someone linked me to a tutorial about using a microwave to dry it. I have spent much of the last 24 hours doing just that. I started off with 2 minutes on defrost or power level 3. I did this about 4 times. Then I went to 2 minutes on power level 4 for 3 times. Then 3 min on PL 3 about 6 times. Then 4 min on PL 3 about 2-3 times. I let it cool down between sessions, sometimes it’s just a little warm. It’s pretty dry and it hasn’t cracked at all. It has warped a bit to a slight oval though. I turned this bowl to about 3/4” before I discovered the microwave drying process. I think from now on, I’ll turn it out completely then dry it out. Anyway, I hope this helps someone and if you have questions, ask away. -- Failure does not stop me, it makes me try harder..... because I'm crazy. |
