I finally went and joined the San Diego Fine Woodworkers Association this week. I bought a few raffle tickets before the meeting and ended up winning a prize – Lie Nielsen low angle block plane. Not only had I recently drooled over this but it’s also my first plane. Now I just need to learn how to set it up and use it properly!

You would be hard pressed to find a finer tool to learn on. That is one fine ‘starter’ plane!

How did you like the meeting? I’m just getting back into woodworking and setting up my shop. I live in North County and was thinking of checking out the next meeting.

I liked it. Like many things you get what you give. 25 cent magazines, movie check outs, raffle, coffee, a presentation and about a billion years worth of collective knowledge. They have a real need for new volunteers so there a plenty of opportunities to get involved.

Another plane addict.
I love it when that happens. Misery loves company.
