Was watching the news this mormimg and I thought about your “storm cellar” post yesterday. I’m wondering how you guys weathered the storm?

for all we know, he might not be all “down there” anymore, he could be “up here” at this point ;)

Yes, we’re ok, Joe. We live in a nice size town in the middle of Bartow county. I’ve been here most of my life except for a few short years when I went to school. Cartersville has never taken a direct hit except for it’s outskirts. Every time we have an outbreak where the cells are headed straight for us they go 2 or 3 three miles to either side so we were lucky once again. Of course we do get some strong thunderstorms. Unfortunately from the tornado point we are fixing to move north of here about 8 miles into the country so I hope we end up being lucky at that spot as well. It has a full basement and you can get to the basement from inside the house so it will be a little more comfortable in the basement where we’re moving to. However, you can bet that this spring when the tornadoes hit again we’ll be doing what we always do when the sirens go off. We’ll go to the basement. Thanks for asking.

BTW, here’s an areal shot of what that tornado did to a large manufacturing plant in Adairsville, the little town just a few miles north of here.

Yikes! Almost hard to believe no one was hurt in that building.

Glad to hear you came out unscathed too.

Glad you guys were spared and are safe. We have an area about 20 miles north of us we call tornado alley. They have had a bunch of tornado through the years.

Charles we spent a week at Red Top Mountain State Park a few years ago back when the lake was way down. We love that part of the country. Long as it isn’t in Atlanta. Haaa Haaa

My wife and I were born way back in 1950 right here in Cartersville and have been here most of those years except when I went to college. So far we’ve never had a close call with a tornado. So far the close ones always go 2 or 3 miles either to the north or the south of our house. My wife and I were childhood sweethearts and as a matter of fact from the age of 10 we lived right across the street from each other until we got married. I guess a lot of you folks remember the 1950’s and 60’s. My how times have changed. My father always told me that I only cost him $25.00 to get born and if I had have cost one more dollar he would have traded me back in. ;-)
