Hardwood Winfall -- But I am new .. so I don't know what I got

Hi Folks,

I saw in Craigslist a ad for hardwood lumber .. so I took a drive about 1/2 hr from my house.

What I found was a Master Woodworker shop, and small lumber yard. The master woodworker recently passed away .. and the family hired some one to sell the wood..

He was selling it for $5 a board, so I filled up my Mazda Tribute with as much wood as I could carry.

When I got home and started sorting out the boards, I found I had several nice 4×4 White Oak. But the rest of the wood .. I really don’t know what it is.

some of the boards have captions like “Sample 1 “

Others have numbers wriiten on the board. I am especially interest in the dark thick wood .. I think it might be Black Walnut ?

The other one .. its almost light pink .. with writing on the board about China … I have no idea what that is.

WDHLT15 home \| projects \| blog 687 posts in 647 days #4 posted 113 days ago	Pics 1,4,5,8,9,10 are maple. Pics 8 and 9 are curly maple (nice!!). Chinese tallow, Triadica sebifera, is a trerribly invasive tree that is taking over the wetlands in South Mississippi and Louisiana. Pics 2 and 3 may be walnut, but they look more tropical to me. -- Wood-Mizer LT15
