I am looking for some spruce lumber. I only need about 5 or 6 bd ft, preferrably in 5 or 6 foot lengths. I am going to build a crackerbox, which is a RC boat, usually powered by a weed wacker or chain-saw engine. They are about 4 to 5 feet long and go around 30 MPH with a stock engine and can reach 60 MPH with a modified engine.

I got the plans, engine and radio equipment, just need the wood and HW.

I can get the 3mm Okuome plywood I need for the shell, but finding spruce lumber is a different matter. Though I think some of the 2×4 material at HD is spruce which I could cut down to the sizes I need…

I am curious as to why you want just spruce? Would fir be more resistant to getting wet and decaying thereafter?... and it may be lighter. I would think that HD’s supply of pine or spruce is sufficient for what you need, although you may want to be fairly thorough in sorting through the boards to minimize cracks, knots etc. Hope you have a successful hunt for the wood you need.
