hey guys, i have an old walker turner lathe that i dont use much, but want to get some new centres for it. it is quite substantial, has about a 40 inch bed, variable speed (wheel with dial indicater) how do i tell what size the centres are #1,#2 morse taper ETC. i know stupid question but im not a big lathe guy. thanks in advace.

The easiest way is to take one you do have and go to a woodcraft, rockler, or similar in your area and let them look at it. Otherwise, measure the angle and verify it from there. Lastly, there is a guy I met in vegas who has a store called woodworkers emporium. they are on the net. He is one of the most knowledgeable guys I know and he would know right away and give you a fair deal on the items you need. www.woodworkersemporium.com

May or may not have a pub on some lathes. If have a welding/machine shop in you town take what ever drive/lathe center you have to them. Folk there should be able to help you out.
