Topic tags/keywords: bread knife

Has anyone used the bread knife kit from Rocker? If so, what was your experience? Does the blade seem like it will last under almost daily use? (I tried to cut and paste the link – but can’t seem to get it done.) I’m thinking of making a knife for my SIL who makes homemade bread everyday (I know wouldn’t you like fresh bread every day?).

Thanks in advance for your help.

Betsy,
I made the one from Woodcraft

Top one of the 3. The blade costs the same as the entire kit but I think it is a little more versatile.

Glad to know you’re heading back into the shop!!

thanks Lew. I’ll ask George which style he thinks Lisa will like. What wood did you use for your handle?

I made the kit listed below. http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=22182&site=ROCKLER&filter=bread%20knife

It’s a very handy knife, and it will definitely hold up well under daily use. Replacement blades are inexpensive if you need them, and they are easy to change. I made a matching cutting board for French loaves, and it’s a nice set.

Thanks Kelby. That is the kit I was looking at.
