Looking for information on upgrading the motor on a a Jet jwbs-14cs. Want to put in a 2 horse motor so does anyone know where there may be information if it can be done and where I might find it?

Looking at the owner’s manual, a motor upgrade should be pretty simple. Looks like pretty much any motor with a flat mounting plate should fit….or could easily be made to fit. In my opinion the only issue(s) you’ll need to address are:
1- You’ll have to make sure the larger motor isn’t too wide. Otherwise, aligning the pulleys will be problematic and/or it might not fit within the cabinet.
2- A 2hp motor would be better served on a 220v outlet. If you don’t already have access to 220v, you’ll need to contact an electrician or investigate DIY options.
3- Make sure the replacement motor is the same (or very similar) speed as the existing motor.

Is the saw wired for 230 or 115? I had a great deal of improvement with my jet when I had it wired over to 230v. It does a lot better than 115. I am interested In watching this upgrade, however. Even though it does better, It still feels under powered in some of the serious re sawing I do regularly.
