Topic tags/keywords: twitter So it seems that there is a little woodworking world forming over on Twitter. I have to admit to being a little addicted to it. I am having a lot of fun keeping up with all the bloggers and podcasters out there during the work day. I would be curious to see how many Jocks are on Twitter. I would love to look some of you up and shoot the breeze during the day. Let’s see a show of hands and how to find you. -- Check out my blog and podcast "The Renaissance Woodworker" at www.rogersfinewoodworking.com/blog |

Ok, I took the bait and signed up on Twitter. What a useless site. Obviously, I don’t get it. -- I don't make mistakes, only design changes.... |

You know what? I have always been fascinated by Twitter , but never understood it. So I too, just signed up and I am under the name woodalley. After this I do not have a clue. I thought it would be fun, especially when it comes to woodworking! -- Allison, Northeastern Ca. Remember, Amateurs built the Ark. Professionals built the Titanic! |

who or what is twitter? I thought this post was about either a small speaker or a cheap drug that keeps you up all night so a LJ could spend more time in the shop. -- Brian, Lebanon PA, If you aren’t having fun doing it, find something else to do. |

Yup, I’m up too. Find me under Loogie. I agree, it’s lots of fun. Since I can’t have my phone on when I’m flying, sometimes I get blasted with 15 messages when I turn it on, but I love it. I just need to figure out how to see the whole conversation instead of just the half of the person I’m following. -- Mark |

If any of you jocks are texting on Twitter, please, please don’t do it while driving. This past summer we’ve had to scrape 3 motorists in separate incidents off the travel lanes on I85 because of texting in high speed traffic. Called off life flight choppers. Loaded it into ground units to Grady Hospitals. Also, we’re out there building those freeways, and we’re someone’s mom or dad. As always, bbqKing -- bbqKing, Lawrenceville |

I was on twitter before I found this site. In fact, it was the jocks on twitter that intro’d me to this site! Anyway, twitter works best for those in front of a computer all day (me) or those who have smartphones and unlimited texting plans (not me). You have to want to periodically update the world on your thoughts and doings, and that can seem a bit odd, especially when nobody is following you yet. But I’ve found the best way to do it is to do it, and find interesting people to follow (other jocks, for a start) and your followers will slowly grow. If you care about that sort of thing. :) Anyway, I’m at http://twitter.com/RockDoggy -- -Chris http://rockdoggy.com |

Smartphones? There’s my problem. Mine’s dumber than a bag of rocks. Ok, I saw the you tube video and understand what it is now. Thanks Shannon. However, If I had that much idle time on my hands, I prefer watching Clint Eastwood reruns…. -- I don't make mistakes, only design changes.... |

I checked out Twitter and as far as a social thing it looks like it won’t work for me. Many of the people I found on there that I knew seemed to be using it more as a means to have individual conversations rather than simpy making statements as to what they are doing at the time. I clicked “follow” on a few folks and I got a page full of comments that looked more like a chat transcipt. However… my day job is as a telecom recruiter and I signed up my company as a user, now I post quick snippets when I have a new job or potential job and when I close out jobs. Our candidates can follow us and get updates on our job orders. Now THAT I can use! -- Tim D. - Woodstock, GA |
