I think correct spelling when posting should be optional. Our goal here is to help our fellow LJs with woodworking questions and to show projects not preparing for a spelling bee. In fact, over time we may be able to start putting together a woodworking language that we can use that is exclusive to Lumber Jocks. A kind of woodworking ebonics, if you will.

Have you been released from solitary?

I like the idea of developing a new language. I’ll give it some thought.

I think there might be a misspelling in your post. Shouldn’t it be “ebonyonics”?

Chuckv, you win a vowel. Ebony phonics is right on.

Howie, do I use it well?

Sometimes I think our spelling errors are caused by the keys being in the wrong spots.

The only rule to this new program is that everyone must be able to spell all words related to anything religious. We don’t want to mistakenly drift into an area that can get you in trouble just because your woodworking buds were too lazy to learn to spell religious “things” correctly. Also, if you ever need to use the word cross, carpenter, etc in a sentence you must clarify that it does not have to do with religion.

Guys, guys don’t be scared. You can use the word religion in a sentence…you just can’t discuss the internal workings of religion. Things like “I built a religion today” are perfectly acceptable. However, you can’t talk about how it works.

Ok, that’s enough on that subject. The whole purpose of this thread is to let everyone know that spelling is out the window. We now accept any and all scribblings. I know poopsie will be upset but he’ll get used to it.

I think our next subject will deal with math and how if we keep having enough “new math” agendas our kids will finally get it right. I know they don’t do well with spelling but with the “new math” we put together we’ll have a whole new wave of scientists on our hands. We will call it the Newest New Math. We’ll keep it at Math so they don’t have to worry how to actually spell Math.

Out the window Dru, out the window. That’s the one we used and it didn’t “measure” up. To improve our science programs and keep us the world leaders we’ll either need to continue inventing new maths or bring more Jewish folks into the US. I vote for the later. Martin, I mention “Jewish” not as a religion but as a specific group of people. On the whole they’re pretty damn smart…

I just noticed while reading the local news (online of course) there will be a funeral today for a cop killed in the line of duty. It got me to thinking about which groups of individuals have the most dangerous job. Most would say police, fireman, teacher, etc. However, I think drug dealers probably have the most dangerous job…bar none. If they could unionize it would probably help them alot. Better yet if they fell under OSHA they would be really safe. What do you think? Am I right?
