Hello to all my woodworking coleagues!

I have a Jet overhead air filtration unit (model AFS 10008)
When I removed the outer filter to get to the inner pleated one to clean it, and removed it….I was surprised to find 3 styrofoam blocks 12.75” sq. X 2” just inside the cavity.
This is the first time I’ve ever removed or tried to clean the inner filter.
Are these blocks just packing material ?
Thanks to all replies.

Thanks for the Welcome Back !
When I purchased the new outer filters….on the plastic wrapper it said to remove the styrofoam and disguard them. I cleaned out the inner filter, replaced them both and it’s all good.
