I always find myself perusing the projects that you post, and I’m invariably drawn to the hand made tools, gauges, jigs, and shop items. Whether its Phil Edwards hand planes, or SST’s replacement plane totes, Ytsejamr’s fancy crosscut sled, or Gary B’s Tool cabinet. Davesfunwoodworking’s marking gauges, Joe Brumleys slicing gauge. or anything that Lee A. Jesberger, or Gary K. make. I’m pretty sure their scrap boxes hold things I would dust off and put on my mantle. The list goes on, and on. I have enjoyed buying planes off of ebay, and restoring them. As well as cleaning up several old saws, and other tools, but I have yet to make a nice marking gauge from scraps. I’m not sure what the LJ policy is on this, but might it be beneficial for people to post pics of what they have that they’d be willing to swap, sell? For example I have a few old plane bodies, that I wasn’t able to fix up, but might be usable to someone with more skill than I… I also have a few Stanley low angle block plane blades that I would be willing to part with if anyone needs one. I’d love to hear any of your comments or ideas on the subject. If there is any interest, I’ll compile a list of items I have available. -- When my wife ask's what I have to show for my wood working hobby, I just show her the splinters. |
