A few months ago “boxguy” posted a way to fix problems with the Steel City dual drum sander by using hook and loop velcro attached to the drum and loop backed sandpaper. I have the same sander and the same problem. I have just had the velcro tape and loop backed sandpaper delivered from Woodmaster. I am wondering how to cut the velcro tape and sandpaper. The drum on the sander is 5’ diameter and the Steel City sandpaper is 5” wide. The velcro tape from Woodmaster is 41/4 inches wide and the sandpaper is 6”. My question is, do you cut the angles at the ends of the velcro tape and the 6”sandpaper the same as the 5”Steel City sandpaper or do you have to cut at different angles because of the different widths? A related question is, what lengths do you cut the 41/4 tape and 6”sandpaper to so as to compensate for the difference in width from the standard 5”Steel City sandpaper strips. Thanks for your help.
