I have one of the crosscut saws that I like just fine. I generally pick it up instead of setting up for a circular saw cut when I just have one or two rough cuts to make.

I’m with TomK, I have a combo cut/rip 16” in th van, very nice for a quick cut. It is able to stay sharp, remain straight, and still not break the bank. Whatever hand saw you use. without proper technique, stance and care, none will work to there potential. Care, understanding, and practice is a major requirement for any hand saw to fulfill its intended use.
