Topic tags/keywords: what is it

O.K. crew. I finally came up with a shop idea that I thought worthy of a What Is It. I hope one of you brilliant LJ’s doesn’t embarrass me by solving it in like 20 seconds LOL.

So Here it is. What is it?

What is it?

ANSWER:

Congrats to GMman who’s tenacity and brilliance have once again raised the stature of our neighbor to the north.

Total time 72 minutes :)

Answer

It is a jig for making stock for ebony pegs. It took me about an hour to think it up and 15 minutes to build it. This one is for 1/4” ebony stock.

Thanks to all who particpated! It was fun running in and out of the shop to play the game!

is the bottom slot a ‘t’ slot? looks like a circle cutting jig for the bandsaw but is missing the sliding pivot. looks like something I dreamed up a while back but never got around to doing.

The lip is NOT functional, just lazyness on my part.

Not for wood drawer slides or circle cutting.

Hmmm, I’m not sure that’s fair but since your all putting so much effort into it and I’ve past the 20 second embarrassment mark I’ll give it to you.

It’s for a hand tool.

That’s one of the cool things about my tool bench. You can see the whole thing in my workshop post. It’s on wheels and it has power too. The bottom is a torsion box so it is dead flat and won’t sag. I built it about 10 years ago from a plan published in American Woodworker.

The bench plans are now available as The Ultimate Tool Bench

I love this bench.

Very nice, great job, I like it very much thanks for sharing….this is what I like about this site people share what they have, I had a friend I use to visit a lot he makes all kinds of cabinets and he does a very nice job but he doesn’t share anything but sometimes he use to call me if I had for a router bit or an extra clamp so I stop seeing him
