Topic tags/keywords: question

I just was on the phone with a representative at Oneida.
She told me that Grizzly has a lot of trouble with their dust collectors.
Is this true?
I am thinking about may be buying one.

I wonder what type of problem she is referring to? How would she know? Does she have one or is she just repeating something she heard? Sounds like competitor propaganda to me!

Also, if you only hit the post button once (not double click), you can eliminate the double post (which is empty).

the grizz 14” is much better (bigger impeller, and likely a stronger motor) than the HF unit. My HF unit is currently on CL, now that I have fully converted over to my new 3.5hp thein setup.

She told me that she was at a show last summer and many people told her that they sold their grizzly dust collectors to buy Oneida because , I believe , of problems the electric motors.

“Also, if you only hit the post button once (not double click), you can eliminate the double post (which is empty).”
This is not an accident, this is to keep my post on the first page of the forum where people can see it.

“the grizz 14” is much better (bigger impeller, and likely a stronger motor) than the HF unit”
of course, I know that this is why I want to change.

did you really expect a rep from oneida to advocate your buying a competing unit from a competitor?

No but this one thing to say nothing and another thing to say that they are having issues.
A good sale representative knows to not say anything bad about the competition because it comes around.

My question is : do you have a Grizzly dust collector and if yes do you have issues with is.
I am not here to talk about Oneida,.

I’ve had a G1029 (2 h.p.) for years, and have never had any problems. Doesn’t mean it can’t happen. But this forum is the place to inquire—as you have done—not a rival salesperson. Wait till you get a bunch of responses before deciding.

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Manufacturer reps are not unbiased; and what ever comments they make, ... they make.

The question is whether the Grizzly is a good DC, and worthy of investments, relative to one or more other DCs. I don’t know the answer to this, as I have an Oneida Super Dust Deputy pre-filtering my Delta 1hp, and I’ve never needed to spend more or have something different.

Bert’s asking us if we can help him; for those who know something informative, please chime-in.

”... worthy of investments, relative to one or more other DCs”

Thereby limiting the field of respondents to those that have switched from one to the other, for one reason or another. I’m guessing they’ll each like the one they switched to. I don’t have the Grizzly, can’t help.

Not necessarily, they now might wish they had bought something different.
Again my question is about Grizzly DC reliability, nothing else.

I’ve had a G1029 since 2001 with no issues. I know four other local woodworkers who have the same unit. Not a single problem between them. It’s amazing the number of negative comments Grizzly gets from sales people who don’t make money on Grizzly equipment….it a tired and desperate tactic. Sounds like your Oneida rep wants to make a sale, so they’re blowing smoke. That would be reason enough for me to avoid doing business with them….and I’d tell them so, or would at least buy it from another rep.

I remember being at a show once where the Laguna BS rep was bad mouthing Minimax. We told the MM rep about it, and he still refused to utter a negative remark about Laguna, which I found to be admirable. My friend bought the MM16….what a class act that company is. Apparently Oneida isn’t in that league.
