Topic tags/keywords: sears craftsman tools

I’ve got a $75 Sears gift card that I received for Christmas. I’m not the biggest fan of Craftsman tools, and I’m not looking to pay much more on top of that $75. So if you were me, what “small” items would you pick up?

They do have quite a bit more online than they sell in stores, and they are doing free shipping for orders over $50. Here are a few things I have found browsing on their site:

Woodpeckers 12 in. T-Square

Kreg Clamp

Or I could always just pick up some Jorgensen bar clamps. I know Woodpeckers stuff is crazy expensive, but I’m sure I would love it and the gift card is a good excuse to buy something expensive. Do you think I would regret having only the 12” version later? (I kinda doubt it…)

A few things come to mind.

Decent shop vacs and filters, tool chests or organizers, shop lighting, electrical accessories like extension cords…

Sears carries Freud, Tenryu, Forrest, and Amana saw blades, among others.

From Knotscott’s list, I have used Freud and Tenryu blades, and like them both.

ditto on the Kreg jig. Perhaps a decent mechanic’s tool set. They usually run a $99 sale on a 200pc set—great for around the house, shop, or even just store it in your truck for emergencies (I keep a set in my truck toolbox and mine has saved my butt when I had a broken fan belt among a few other times) btw-a couple of years ago I had $150 in gift cards and bought the sliding miter saw. I have not been disappointed.

Cool, thanks for the responses guys. I’m starting to get more ideas; a sawblade might be just the ticket.

Joe, I have that exact same pocket hole jig, and I love mine as well! That’s why I am considering buying the Kreg face frame clamp.

Shirts? Shoes? Yeah, a saw blade is probably your best best.

I would go into the store and look first – you never know what will be on sale or close out.

I love the face clamps for pocket hole drilling, it makes it even easier and more convenient than it already is.

Do you have a dremel?
Shopvac?
Toolbox?

Plenty of decent quality stuff at Sears. I’d drive down to your local store and look around.
