Let’s talk about role models. I believe that each and every person should have a role model or two to use as an example on how to live and function in their day to day life. I also believe that we should occasionally step back and examine our current role model as to whether or not they are still serving that purpose and to act accordingly should we find it to not be the case. I am now in the process of changing my role model, transitioning if you will to a model I feel better suited to meet my day to day life and it’s included challenges.

I am changing my long time role model from Bill Clinton to Jimmy Swaggert. Both have been a leader of men and suffered through their own challenges and seem to have come out the better for it. Anyway, that’s what I’m in the process of doing. It’s a lengthy process and in itself has challenges and pitfalls to look out for.

Now on to you guys. If you have a role model who is it and how did you come to select that person? Please, no heart rending or tear causing narratives. Just who it is and why? I understand that the best role model of all time is arguably my avatar. Many have selected Him and I understand why. The problem with Him as your role model is He is so hard to live up to. I like challenges but that’s a little out of my ballpark. Maybe later.

My Dad. Quiet, unassuming, very competant, and not swayed with the likes of Clinton and Swaggert.
Kinda bordering on politics and religion in one fell swoop don’tcha think.
I’m more inclined to revere the guys who pounded out our country from the wilderness with axe and people power.

Bill, you have to admit both Bill and Jimmy have people power. It’s nice that one of your models is dad. Too often we take them for granted.

It would have to be Dick Cheney or Dan Quayle.

No contest, Quayle by a landslide. He is the smarter of the two. I stand by Swaggert though.

But Cheney’s compassionate conservatism is also a quality I try to emulate.

True, toidiem, true. Damn, now I’m not so sure about Quayle. Oh well, Swaggert is still the man.

I used to have a role model. But, it died.

You’re as crazy as a couple others on this site. Quick comeback but can you handle the really deep thinking?
