I wish a very happy New Year to all Lumberjocks Do you have tools that you bought and that you rarely or never use? I have Worksharp 3000 that I played with once when I just bought it. I never used it again. May be we should have a “Lumberjock tool exchange” -- Bert |

I got my WS 3000 about two years ago. At first, I used it a lot lapping the backs of some chisels and a couple of old planes. It doesn’t get used as much now, but it is very handy to have around for stropping. I have the leather disc and some green honing compound and it is out and ready when I am working on a project. I guess I found it’s niche in my shop. For clutter I have a couple of things. I try to keep it to a minimum with my small shop. I have a bag of jig making parts I got for my former router table. It is gone now, but those parts remain. Yeah, I got some clutter. -- Mike |

B2rtch:, Haven’t you ever heard of the LJ Forum entitled “Woodworking Trade & Swap”? All of us are holding onto treasure in our shops, that we either don’t need, don’t want, or could part with if presented with a cool trade item. If you have something that you think someone else would enjoy having, list it here and see who wants to Swap! All trades, exchanges, warranties, and shipping, are considered “on-your-own.” Have fun. Why aren’t you using it? -- Einstein: "The intuitive mind is a sacred gift, and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift." bert haven’t you ever heard that “he who has the most tools when he dies wins”? haha I’ve got plenty of boxes of unopened tools (bosch colt router, rotary tool, 13” lunchbox planer, dado set, chisels and a honing guide, hitachi 3.25 hp plunge router, 3 hand planes) that are still either NIB or unused by me. I haven’t used them yet because i haven’t had the time or space, but hopefully i will soon. Hey im still young and have plenty of time left (I hope) -- It's made of wood. Real sturdy.--Chubbs Peterson |

Happy New Year Bert! and everyone else. Didn’t someone say let him without unused tools cast the first bolt? I’m guilty and will not throw the first bolt. -- Dreaming of the day I might joint two pieces of wood square.......... |

Can’t afford anything that I don’t immediately need and will emphatically use several times in the future so while the shop is cluttered it isn’t unused tools. Now scrap wood is a whole other story entirely. The closest is a bunch of bench chisels that came with my lathe cause the previous owner didn’t know how to use a lathe and received them at the same time as he bought the lathe. I’ll be turning handles for some as I do enjoy using chisels and only have one that I can use. Started going through them last night and will be chucking the ones too damaged to salvage; someone used a claw hammer on a few while they didn’t have handles. -- --Rev.
