I’ve got what I believe is about 10-11bf of Cocobolo. I’m not 100% certain of the species as I happened into it due to a shipping mistake and the supplier didn’t want to pay for its return—but it looks like their online pics and they don’t carry anything else similar. I’m considering using some of it for drawer pulls for my latest project, but I think I would really rather have an equivalent amount (by value) of cherry, maple and/or walnut. I don’t know what I would do with this wood otherwise—I couldn’t possibly use it all up for inlays but I have considered keeping it and sawing it up into matched veneers. Since it’s only 4/4 though, I wouldn’t get many matching pieces from each board. There are eight 4/4 S2S boards around 4” (give/take some) wide by 50” – 53” long. Here are the pics…please let me know if you think I’ve misidentified the wood: This stuff is very heavy. Anyone interested? Or should I keep it? -- Patrick, Chicago, IL www.TenonAndSpline.com |
