I need help…

I am trying to build a website. I am using Yahoo SiteBuilder and I really like the program. I have learned a lot about website building this past week. I have gotten to the point where I would like to try incorporating some motion to my pages to bring the viewer in.

I have even figured out how to insert HTML code into SiteBuilder. What I can’t figure out is how to use the flash building tools such as Amara, KoolMoves, and particularly FlashNifties.

They all seem to need an outside way of “uploading” files to “my server.” This is the part I can’t figure out how to do. One website suggested that I needed to download “FileZilla.” I tried that but still couldn’t figure it out.

I am trying to add a flash menu as well as a flash gallery.

I need someone who has experience with using FLASH to give me a few pointers. I would really like to talk to someone on the phone for a few minutes if you don’t mind.

Thanks!

Hey Blake I’m in the same boat as you my site “still under construction arrrg. I am using more javascript stuff and don’t know squat about flash. My wife says the First site has helped alot and I have used the trial version of dreamweaver to write some html and basically pirated my javascript from some open source sites. check these sites out: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/

I am a total novice on this stuff since I’ve been working on my site for half a year now.

Any way hope i was able to help in some way.
Have a good day Blake

Lynda.com has some great online training on almost all computer topics including Flash. It costs a little but it’s well worth it.

I don’t build sites but my peeps do. Avoid an overabundance of Flash otherwise you will run afoul of SEO [Search Engine Optimization] standards. The porn folks use a lot of it therefor ALL of the major search engines will “sandbox” you if they detect ANY Flash on your homepage. This isn’t a terminal condition but it prevents your site from indexing for 3 to 6 months! So, better to avoid Flash as much as possible and keep its use to a minimum. Hope this helps.

always,
J.C.

Flash can actualy be broken down into 2 parts
1) animation
2) action script ( which is basicaly programing)
depending on how complex/updateable you would want the flash to be you might be getting heavy into the actionscript part.

Another thing flash can require a download/install of software, depending on your audience, some may not have it and/or want to install it.

A different option to flash is to use css check out this site http://www.cssplay.co.uk/ there are some menu and gallery options.

I don’t know for sure. It is unavailable to me. But knowing Odie, I’m sure my imagination is NOT doing him justice.
