So my sister is expecting her first child in January.
I’m going out to visit her and the baby in February.

I would like to make a gift for the baby.

Easily carry on the airplane
Requires minimal expense
And obviously relatively safe for the baby

My first thought was to turn a rattle, but I don’t own a hollowing tool. It would be nice but money is too tight right now.
I guess I would prefer to turn something on the lathe, but it could be whatever.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Do you know how to turn captive rings? You could make a rattle that way.

Here’s a good example of how to turn a rattle on the lathe without a hollowing tool. It’s a 2 part series.

Have your say...
