Topic tags/keywords: resource tip free masonite hard board ma boston norwood

I recently saw an ad on Boston’s craigslist posting for free Masonite sheets 48”x40” and thought I’d share it with everyone here.

this is a shipping company and they get their packages on pellets with a masonite top to protect the bottom of the packages. they then just discard the masonite sheets, and are giving them away to whomever wants them, as they don’t like the idea of just throwing them out. they have hundreds of those…

I just picked up 30 of them and they are mostly in great condition, some have tearouts on the edges, some have broken corners- but most are in great condition, and if you cut them down to size – you’d have no issue with them. the top surface is as good as new.

they have plenty, and they keep on getting them, so if you’re interested, send me a message for contact info, or check out this ad on Boston’s craigslist:

This is a WIN,WIN,WIN situation – you win free material, they win free cleaning, and the environment wins less trash!

Also, not far from there, there is a (different) site where they get rid of trees that fell during storms, and stuff like that – plenty of logs, maybe they can be talked into giving some of that away as well (but that’s a difference company) – this is in Norwood, MA.

Cheers!

if size wasnt so odd, I’d get some for ya and ship them over… although – I’m not sure that would end up being cost effective… lol

but I think that the concept stays true – try to look for some shipping/transit company that receives/ships merchandise – odds are that they are getting their packages the same way, and would have the same material at their disposal.

Awesome template material…

Easy to work, just the right thickness for a router bearing, and the smooth side plays nicely with carpet tape.
