I have an opportunity to get one for $1000. Used for about 10 hours. Any thoughts/opinions?

Sounds like a steel if that’s all the hours it has on it. Try it before you buy it.

Depends a 16-32 you can get from the manufacture for 999.00 with the warranty.
If it is a 22-44 that machine is worth 1400-1800 good deal. A guy will tell you the
warranty is transferable but it may not be. Also if the guy had the machine sit it may
be out of warranty already any way.

I have the Jet 22-44 drum sander and it is pretty much identical to the Preformax. Mine is a workhorse and solid and dependable. The only thing i would do differrent is get one with the oscillating drum.
I find that 99% of the time I do not need the full width capabilities of the 22-44 but it does have its moments when I use that 1%
