I finally broke down and got my wife a Pandora (money pit) bracelet and a bunch of charms for Christmas this year. I am making a nice box to put them in for her.

We have a tradition of making each others gifts kind of “challenging” to open. She got me good last year when she encased one of my gifts in wax. I was thinking of putting the bracelet and charms in the box (while still in the pandora boxes) BEFORE I cut the lid off on the table saw. I will score the lid a tiny bit to give an illusion it will open, but it won’t :)

Is that going too far, or a pretty good prank? She has a good sense of humor. I’m not worried about damage to the goods as I will finish the cut with a back saw and there is ample room inside.

I’m so glad you two can have such fun with each other! Please send pictures after Christmas and her gift is fully opened of both closed and open box. I’d enjoy seeing your project.

To me, it sounds like one those things in life where you don’t necessary have to win all the time. Though you can pay her back, sometime it is funner to let your partner believing they have one up on you.

hhhopks, you may be on to something. I don’t think she went nuts this year as there is already some stuff under the tree. Judging by the 4 tube shaped packages and the amount spent at woodcraft on the credit card, I would say I am getting a nice set of easy wood turning tools (SCORE!). There could be another impossibly wrapped gift that I am not seeing though. I really want to do it, but I don’t want to be the only one participating. Maybe I’ll text her and see if it is still “on” this year.

It is a harmless prank. Go for it, so that you don’t regret NOT doing it!!!

Too bad you went for Pandora, I would have suggested Trollbeads instead.

But, they are really equal, I suppose.

Perhaps I am biased because I sell Trollbeads.

I didn’t end up going through with it. I asked her if she did the same for me this year and she did not. She was excited about what she got me and couldn’t wait for me to open them. I didn’t want to be the only one. Her birthday is around the corner, so I will get her then.
