As long as the lid is not too heavy, the ones Rockler sells are pretty nice. Kinda spendy, but work well.

Monte I’ve only built one blanket chest a fairly large one, I used I believe they were spring loaded? Just not real sure but I bought them at Woodcrafters and they have different weight limits depending on which one you buy, I am lucky to have a local store in my home town but you might see what they have to offer online.
