I am probably making the move to Mansfiled, OH in the next couple of months. Wondering if there are any LJs in or near the area. I will hopefully have my whole shop with me if I can find a place with a basement or garage to set shop in. Two of my sons already live and work there and I’ll be staying with them on a permenant basis. Anyway, looking for fellow wwkrs and of course lumber and tool sources.

I visited there once early in my career.
I was stuck in Holiday Inn (downtown) at the bar with double long island tea.
Next thing you know, the Holloween parade was going by the main street.
Pretty neat town. It reminds me of the movie “It’s a Wonderful Life”, Bedford Falls.

Just moved away from the area after 30 years. Sure do miss Keim Lumber in Charm, OH…a big boy’s toy store. Leave your credit card at home.

Also, you will LOVE Hartville Hardware…one of the biggest tool inventories in the state. Big sales and demos a couple of times a year.

In both cases, the food is really good near each of those sites.

Enjoy.

I’m a little too far south west of there, down in Logan County. There is a large Amish area to my north, in Hardin County. They usually have a few sawmills up and running, as one of their “side jobs’ is making pallets for factories.

Best i can offer. Although, every time i’ve driven through that dang town (Mansfield) it seems that the cops love to sit on overpasses, with a radar ( now laser) speed gun. Next on ramp, they will be waiting for “customers” to roll by. main area was down by the old Steel mill area on US30. Watch out for them…

HHHOPKS…good thing I love a parade!
Joe…heard alot about Hartville, I’ll be in good with them in no time.
Bandit…good thing I don’t do the speed thing, my ol Ford van can just about get out of its’ own way
Stan, will be lookin you up when I get there!

It’s looking like a early to mid Feb. move. My boys are looking for the “ideal” house for the 3 of us, the shop space will take main stage, of course.

Thanks guys,
John

Hi John! Just found your post. I live about 20 minutes southeast of Mansfield in a little fart of a town called Butler. There is an Amish community not far from me and they have all kinds of rough sawn lumber at decent prices. Message me when you get settled in, I can show you a couple places where I get my stuff. Welcome to the neighborhood!
