I have ground my own. My local Hardware store (arguably the best stocked h’ware in North America—Hardware Sales in Bellingham, WA) can order the blanks for me. I’m not sure where they get them. Obviously not carbide, but if well sharpened after grinding, they perform very well. Because of the need to be ground, they don’t have the anti-kickback feature of most manufactured bits, so you have to work carefully with them.

Have not found a profile that I wanted to do not doable with standard bits or a combination, and my preferred bits are Whiteside as well.
