Topic tags/keywords: question veneering I’ve been very interested in learning more about veneering for years. Could someone point me in a good direction for a beginner, specifically down the path of eventually making a violin for my son. thanks and have a great day….......... I’ve done a lot of flat veenering, but never any curved surfaces. i use vacuum veneering and it does lend itself to doing curved items. www.joewoodworker.com has some info on veneering and also the plans to make your own vacuum veneer setup. There are other commercial sites also. I’ve been doing some veneering for my kitchen remodel, but haven’t posted anything yet. Check lumberjocks search for veneer and see what you hit. Or send me a private e-mail with your phone number and I’ll give you a call. -- Karson Southern Delaware karson_morrison@bigfoot.com |

Violins are not veneered. Violins for the most part are carved. For some violin woods, kits, books and plans try www.stewmac.com A VERY interesting project, requires very few power tools but some specialized hand tools. Not easy, but once you understand the process and the reasons why its not as hard as it looks. Rufus -- Always remember half of the people in this country are below average. |
